Correct NZ-OZ transfer is unfortunately not covered by PVG airside transit arrangements. You will need to go through immigration. With a NZ passport you can now enter China visa-free outright as opposed to using the 144-hr visa free transit facility, as the latter takes longer to process due to the dedicated lane not typically being open when NZ289 arrives. You then collect your bag, take an elevator upstairs to departure, re-check in and go through security and passport control back to the air side.

This won't take long. In fact you are likely to arrive at the OZ counter before it even opens at T-3hr.
