As the PRIORITY lane is moving, the other agent at gate starts talking to the folks who need help, tagging strollers, etc. That way once the priority line is empty, they start moving in the pre-boards.

I remember when they tried that. AA is still doing it. Not sure if I can say it’s a good idea though.

One of the things I love most about my conversion from UA to AS is the dramatic difference in gate area crowding. If Southwest is on the most organized side of boarding a flight, UA is the polar opposite. Sometimes like the crush of a mosh pit, United flights could never figure out organizing boarding with a huge crowd packed in before the plane even arrives. Sometimes on my AS flights I look around to make sure I’m not cutting anyone off during priority boarding and no one is around me.
