Contacted the hotel beforehand and was told that parking cannot be reserved just to, big surprise, see the meagre 35 or so parking spots all taken.
Asked at the front desk and was told to use the nearby cinema parking lot which costs €15 a night. No budging, welcome as a Globalist but too bad, we don’t reserve. Is that it- a property can just get out of this benefit and claim that “there’s not enough parking”? I would have expected a free exit pass or something for the garage next door at least (which is a total pain to use btw as the ramps and parking spaces are super tiny). Very European problem to have (there’s plenty of unnecessary and totally empty bicycle parking spots of course) but I wonder if it’s worse to try and get my parking refunded through MHC or is it rather “on availability” and hence a benefit that is completely useless on properties like this?
I ran into this in The US at several different Hotels(Chains) Baiscally the hotel says 'Limited Parking', we always assumed if we didnt get a spot in the hotels lot we were on our own.
The hotel wasnt getting out of anything they have x spaces and if you dont get 1 of them you are on your own, the hotel does not to supply a spot to each and every guest , and had you been lucky to get a spot they wouldnt have charged you Im assuming as long as they own the parking or can be charged to your room.
That said there are Hotels in the US where either you cant charge the parking to your room or is owned by a 3rd party and therefore not free
I Never heard of any hotel that would reserve a parking space ahead of time, that includes handi-cap spaces, yes they will have x number of HC spaces but once they are taken thats that, the hotel doesnt have to go kick someone out of the next nearby spot and put up a handi-cap sign so that party can park close by
