Free parking benefit for Globalist Award Nights- can the property just get out of it?
I’m having a bit of weird case here which I’m sure wouldn’t happen at an US property ever: Staying at the Me And All hotel (yes, that weird little German brand Hyatt has just announced to fully purchase and roll out widely) in Kiel and booked an award night rate specifically to get the free parking. Contacted the hotel beforehand and was told that parking cannot be reserved just to, big surprise, see the meagre 35 or so parking spots all taken.
Asked at the front desk and was told to use the nearby cinema parking lot which costs €15 a night. No budging, welcome as a Globalist but too bad, we don’t reserve. Is that it- a property can just get out of this benefit and claim that “there’s not enough parking”? I would have expected a free exit pass or something for the garage next door at least (which is a total pain to use btw as the ramps and parking spaces are super tiny). Very European problem to have (there’s plenty of unnecessary and totally empty bicycle parking spots of course) but I wonder if it’s worse to try and get my parking refunded through MHC or is it rather “on availability” and hence a benefit that is completely useless on properties like this?
