I would think that it's in their best interests when as many people bail out (and the sooner, the better) as possible. Then, they can go ahead and combine 3 BUF flights into 1 without resorting to guesswork/probabilities.
If you bail out, they don’t get paid (or they have to give you a flight credit, which amounts to the same thing).
