I’m hoping to book a business class award flight from Athens to the US next July 2025, and EK’s 5th freedom route ATH-EWR is appealing because it bypasses the high taxes and surcharges flying through Dubai. I see lots of availability for the EWR-ATH route in early July but no availability on the ATH-EWR route. Does anyone have insight into why this is? It makes no sense to me, and I’m wondering if they might release some award seats for that route soon. Obviously there’s no certainty with award release schedules, but I’m wondering if anyone has insight into the possible logic of it for this route?
