Preordered Low Calorie Meal

I couldn’t find an existing thread on this, but feel free to move my post if I just missed it. I recently tried preordering the Low Calorie Meal on a long haul international flight (LHR to PDX). I couldn’t find much info online ahead of time regarding these meals, so thought I’d share in case it’s helpful to anyone else.

For the main meal, I was served a piece of cod with a curry spice rub over glass noodles with vegetables. From the packaging, it appears this meal also works for diabetic, low fat, low salt, and gluten free ordering. I’m often leery of fish on planes, but I was very happy with this dish and quite enjoyed it.

The accompanying sides were a mixed bag. Both the roll and the crackers were gluten free, which isn’t my favorite, but makes sense if utilizing this same meal across multiple dietary restrictions. I got margarine instead of butter (which I appreciated). My dessert was also very different from the heavy looking dessert bar pastry that came on the standard meal. I was actually having some trouble identifying the dessert: it was a consistency somewhere between a pudding or a mouse, had a bit of a bite to it (maybe cream cheese or sour cream based?), and came topped with coconut. That doesn’t describe it very well, but I found it very tasty and satisfying.

For the pre-landing snack, I got the same pastry with vegetables and marinara sauce that was on offer to everyone else, I just got mine first since they bring out all the pre-order food before they roll the carts in the aisle 😎

Overall, I was happy with my low calorie meal preorder and would consider doing this again for future international flights in coach on BA
