Stayed for four nights on the week before 4th of July weekend. Had an excellent stay! The hotel definitely outperformed my expectations. With that in mind, this hotel is tailored to families and children. If you don’t have kids, I would highly recommend finding a different hotel.

Another word of warning… our experience on the weekend was very different than our experience during the week. On the weekend, there was a wedding, three conferences, and your typical summer Florida vacationers. Apparently, there are also a fair number of locals who purchase pool passes. During the weekend, there were 15-minute lines for the elevator, we couldn’t find a good seat by the pool, the line for breakfast was an hour, hordes of teens were roaming the hallways until late at night. Our experience Monday through Wednesday was completely different. The resort seems to be at 50% capacity and we had much more enjoyable days.

Room: Booked two base rooms on points and used SUA for both. This has to be the largest Hyatt suite I’ve ever stayed in. It has a full bedroom, foyer, living room with wet bar and two couches, a six-person dining room (with another TV), and two full bathrooms. It was the perfect place for our 8 person family. There are doors between the bedroom and the living area, so we were able to put the kids down for bed, close the door, and still have a dinner in the next room at normal volume. There are six balconies in these suites. Two of which face west and overlook the pools and gulf (with amazing sunsets ). Luckily, for those with kids, they put door latches on all of the balconies at around six foot height, out of reach for children. Amazing use of a SUA!

The only downside was that the bedroom shared a wall with the elevator shaft. The hotel elevators are old but high-speed. So, at the night, you will hear the whooshing every time an elevator goes up or down. The first night, I thought that I was hearing street racing (which I thought was odd for Bonita Springs), but turns out it was the elevators. Tough to sleep on weekends, when people are using the elevators until 2am. On weekdays, elevator-use slowed down around 10pm.

Food: The breakfast was pretty good, but nothing special. It’s your typical Hyatt Regency spread. Omelet bar, fruits, pastries, eggs, bacon, home fries. Never had a wait except for Sunday morning. As a Globalist, you charge the breakfast to your room and they take it off the bill immediately. Was told by the front desk that you can charge up to $75 per room per day, but with the buffet price, we never got close to that amount.

I read mixed reviews about the food on property so we mainly took out or went off-property for dinner. Lunch however was really good. Chicken wrap, fish tacos, burger, wings were all solid. It’s a bit pricy for bar food, but it’s on par for resort prices. If you do decide to go off-site for an adult’s dinner, I would highly recommend The Bohemian. Cool vibes, fun cocktails, delicious food.

Service: I was really impressed by the service. Aside from the housekeeping staff (who never came to clean when we called to ask for service, and then seemed personally offended when we asked them to come back at another time during our kid’s nap), everybody we interacted with was top notch. The valet and bellhops called me by my name. The front desk helped us get a late check-out for one of our suites, even though as a Hyatt resort, Globalists are not entitled to late checkout. Our breakfast and pool servers were efficient and friendly. I would say this was one of the best US-based service experiences I’ve ever had.

Pools and Activities: There are four pools at the hotel. One is an adults-only pool. It’s quite small, but since 95% of guests have kids, it stayed relatively empty for most of the week. There’s another pool directly outside of the main lobby, which also tends to have less kids since there are no slides.

The other two pools are the busiest since they have the slides and lazy river. The slides aren’t exactly water-park level, but they are pretty good for a hotel. The lazy river was fun and decently long. The landscaping around the lazy river is nice (our kids enjoyed seeing the iguana that hid in the bushes) and there are two “waterfalls,” which is just PVC pipe with some holes in them.

Never went to the beach. The shuttle leaves every hour starting at 9:30am until 2:30pm. You have to book the shuttles in advance. I found that they filled up about 24 hours in advance, so make sure to make those reservations early.

A group of us went to the par 3 course at the Salt Leaf golf club. It’s a 9 hole course for $25 per person. Course was well maintained and fun for a quick golf outing. The hotel valet will drop you off and pick you up either in the hotel shuttle bus or golf cart.

Another group went to the spa. The spa was older and didn’t have the amenities that you would find at an international resort (cold plunge, sauna, steam room), but everybody said their massages were excellent.

Loved our stay! It was a perfect getaway for our family and I would come again (as long as I’m not staying on the weekend). Highly recommend to anyone within a direct flight of RSW!

Beautiful landscaping and fountains, especially at night

Breakfast line on Sunday morning

Great Nespresso machine in one our suites. Oddly, the other suite had your typical Hyatt Regency coffee maker.
