The in-flight experience on Gulf Air would beat Finnair hands down, but as a BAEC Silver you would have lounge access when flying Finnair and you would also gather some TP and Avios. I personally would value the lounge access alone more than better meals and drinks onboard.
Thanks for your input. I do have a Priority pass card and so could access lounges that way although they will be contract lounges and so unlikely to be as good as the ones I could gain entry to via my BAEC Silver status. The TP and avios is a good consideration. Unfortunately I'm heading down to bronze on 1 December regardless of this trip but I'll weigh up the pros and cons. There are some nice seats available on the HEL-BKK and BKK-HEL legs which are the big ones. I might also see if staying in Bahrain for a couple of days is an option with Gulf as this would break the journey up even better.
