What is going on with BA Cityflyer?
The weather here has been so dreary for so long that we are planning a couple of cheeky weekend jaunts to the sun ahead of our main holiday at the end of August.
BA flights from LCY should be perfect for this as we hate the bigger London airports if we are just travelling short-haul and for a short weekend. We have already done FAO, and for next weekend I was looking at PMI. Great flight times, short flight, airport close to city. Three ticks.
Then I take a look at the flight reliability data for our preferred return flight, BA 2226, departs PMI at 1830h arr LCY 1955h. Sundays only.
Since the season began.
May 12 dep 2003h (1h30m late)
May 19 dep 1912h (on time by BA standards!)
May 26 dep 1855h (two in a row - but wait for it)
June 2 dep 2000h (1h30m)
June 9 no record on EF - suspicious?
June 16 dep 2007h (1h37m)
June 23 dep 1847h (“on time”)
June 30 dep 1947h (1h 17m late)
Jul 7 dep 2115h (2h45m late)
Jul 14 CANCELLED
Surely BACF is a simpler operation. Same aircraft type for every flight; generally flying to smaller airports; no holding pattern for LCY typically; not having to deal with LHR complexities. The above has totally put me off even thinking about this weekend away, at least with BACF. I’ve seen similar comments about the issues with BACF in other threads but hadn’t realised how bad it has gotten. This used to be such a great operation, what went wrong?
