I.e. not split the difference so much as get 1.5% over the offer on table pre strike and agree some negative changes to compensate for 1.5%. That’s my simple reading as a relatively disinterested observer. I fly EI on a fairly limited basis. Even going west I will often fly BA rather than EI. Short haul, funnily enough I find the FR product more consistent.

The strike is hard to justify based on the recommended outcome. The suggestion that it is split the difference is predicated by not actually reading the terms but simply falling for the headline.
It seems that the outcome allows everyone to walk away claiming a win, so that is a success.
Hard to say the strike was not worthwhile, as even if you are correct and its really only 1.5% gain (I have not read the terms), they have got change to work arrangements. Also had they not taken a stand, I have no doubt that IAG/EI would be more aggressive on future negotiations. At least by taking a stand the pilots have shown they won't be pushed around.

I am in agreement with the posters who think that EI management is way overpaid for what they deliver
