Only you can really answer your own question based on your own requirements! For example, as I nearly always travel on business, I'm not fussed about 'time in the lounge' and spending my work days sipping champagne (even though I know older types like to do this, even on work trips). These days, in a competitive market, I'm focussed on a coffee, the laptop and getting in and out.

I like to travel early. So if I travel to NYC on business I'm usually on an early morning flight. I'll get to LHR early, get in the lounge, grab a small breakfast, coffee and check emails. I'll then work on the plane, land late morning/early afternoon in JFK and either head straight to a meeting or check-in at the hotel, first.

Also, bear in mind even NYC is 5 hours behind, so like I've said on many other threads, there's nothing worse than landing after midnight in the UK (7pm in NYC) and then queuing for immigration. I like to get there early, check-in, get to any daytime meeting I've organised, get back to the hotel and normally I'll be in bed on the first night 8pm....and down the gym at 5am the following morning 😁
