We must agree to disagree on this one as I believe it all adds to the impression that this is a badly run property with shoddy management. I don’t think it’s about what kind of upgrade one can “expect” (none, I’m aware of this, it’s always at a property’s discretion- even a Park Hyatt can excuse themselves if the operator wants to go this route), it’s about the overall experience. And Hyatt is usually rather good about it, I even mentioned some rather similar Hyatt Place airport properties that are run very differently, and thus the experience as a guest was much better.
If it was only about the written benefits, then I would not go out of my way to clock up the 60 Hyatt nights (and believe me, down in Australia it’s a true going out of one’s way), it would be easier for me to rather just aim for Accor status and then wonder why I never get an upgrade at all. This is Hyatt, and they’re usually better than that. But in any case, I appreciate your sentiment as the entire stay was indeed rather awful.
