Figured I’d test this out and perhaps this is a unicorn or my facts are mucking it up.

Applied a SWU to a JFK-LHR for J to F. App was previously showing $1,250 to upgrade (was $2.5k last week) and I have a separate domestic Y segment in the PNR that had a $150 cash upgrade pre SWU. Both disappeared once the SWU was applied. I have a BA prime flight in there too, but that wasn’t previously affecting the upgrade offers.

checkerboard — the $377 offer seems like a good deal and I’d consider taking it. Depending on your travel patterns, save the SWU for when the upgrade offers / fare differences are substantially higher.
