I had decided to book a Premier Room and take the guaranteed upgrade to a Junior Suite. I had long considered booking something larger, but ultimately decided against it.
The Junior Suite is in itself a fully-fledged 2-room suite. Here are the room plans showing how big the hotel is and how the suite was laid out.

You can already get a sense of the style in the hallway.

When you enter the room, the first thing you see is an anteroom with a fairly large cupboard.

The living room was not exactly large, but could be completely separated from the entrance hall and bedroom by doors. A few words must be said about the furnishings. The walls are wood-paneled and covered with fabric. Everything is very classic and certainly very expensive. The inlays are certainly not cheap. Nevertheless, you have to like the style, of course. While I recognize the craftsmanship, I'm not on fire for it right now.

The bedroom wasn't particularly large either, but it was well furnished. Again, there was a lot of cupboard space.

At this point I have to mention the only real shortcoming of the suite - the bed. It consisted of 2 single beds that were not connected. We were told at check-out that we could have put a topper over it and had done so in order to be able to offer the suite with 2 single beds. But let's be honest: is it even possible to put the beds apart in a reasonable way? What about the headboard that is fixed to the wall? I'm not convinced.

Unlike the Premier Room, the view did not go out to the Piazza Repubblica, but I did not see this as a real disadvantage.

In my opinion, the best part of the suite was the bathroom. Very light marble, 2 washbasins, a proper bathtub and a large shower with rain head, a small wall head and hand shower. Good water pressure and everything was spotless.

We were satisfied with the Junior Suite. It's not really bigger than the Premier Room, but it has a separate sleeping and living area. The style is of course old-fashioned, but harmonious and of high quality.
