If the pricing is low enough say goodbye to a ton of comp upgrades. In DL’s mind any money they get from an unsold business class seat goes right to the bottom line vs giving it away free to an elite.
Let's be honest, the cost reduction will be minimal. The Basic Business price will mostly be the old pricing (maybe a few percent less, with that few percent less still being less than the cost to service difference) with the bundled pricing being more than it was before.
