Sixt is not much differnt in price compared to big rental companies. Above mentioned Kihei Rent a car gives 8 days rental for $203, all taxes/fees in. Hertz with corporte discount is $350, without discount - $470. Now, I understand that with Kihei I am getting 10 year old car, but $150 difference worth it.
Wanted to get something like that for Kona area.
I would check your Hertz corporate rate for a pick-up at the Fairmont Orchid HLE in Kohala,
with a return to KOA. If there's no one-way fee with your CDP, you might get a decent rate. But you'd have to find a way to get to the Fairmont when the Hertz office is open. (There appears to be a local bus which departs KOA at 1:55 pm, and arrives at the Fairmont at 2:45 pm.)
