I have never tried the low priced options since a) who knows what kind of surprise you would get if there is some issue and you need to rely on their customer service and b) I am one of those travelers who wants the EQNs and benefits that can be denied when booking with most 3rd party sites.

I wish Google let you exclude vendors, rather like Google Flights lets you de-select airlines.
Thank you for the post. That's exactly how she found the lower rate doing a google hotel search!
Something I will start doing now too.Works well for airfare

Because the rate is refundable she went for it.Also I did some checking and other folks said
that they called the hotel after booking
and verified the hotel had received the booking well in advance of check in without problems.
Of course I can't be bothered for 5 or ten bucks but hundreds per booking I could absolutely be bothered!
Situation has my attention. This year I will have 175 nights and 65 to 70 with Hyatt. Might have been
100 but the points devaluation and higher pricing and poor membership rates has me more spread out now
Hundreds per booking is substantial in my eyes.I do know some folks are not price sensitive
and will pay whatever they see.

Frequently I'm in a hotel where someone has paid 500 a night and I paid a few hundred.
In December I booked a hotel for 179 and now a standard room is 900! Some event is obviously
in town and I booked early as most hotels are sold out.Supply and demand you gotta love it!
