So another question - curious about data points, has anyone had their companion certificate reopened after canceling their flight within the 24 hour risk-free period? I know the terms say that the companion cert is completely nonrefundable, but I've seen quite a few Reddit/FlyerTalk threads that state users have been able to get theirs back.

Any recent data points of that happening?
Yes many times. The 24-hour risk free guarantee simply reverses the transaction so all e-credits/companion certs go back.
