As I read in a post on another thread, recent history seems to indicate that when Olympics are in a large city, the rest of the tourist travel is way down as people avoid the city assuming it will be chaos and hotels will be packed and expensive. London 2012 saw an important reduction in overall tourist traffic in revenue.

This may be a consequence of that.
