To me points purchased from Aeroplan would count as "earned under the Aeroplan Program". This is mostly to prevent PYB from being used from Amex or Cap1 point transfers.
If you go to Best Buy and purchase a TV, is it reasonable to say you "earned" the TV?

I don't think AC (or any reasonable person) would equate the definition of "earned" to "bought".
