It would have been prior to V1 since they aborted. Normally you do not abort at high speed for a blown tire. The problem is however in the cockpit a blown tire mimics a catastrophic engine failure. You get the same vibrations and steering issues. Trying to sort it out in 2 to 3 seconds is not easy and many blown tires do result in a abort. The reason they don’t want an abort for a blown tire is you lose 25% of your braking ability and may not have sufficient runway to stop.
i havent seen any followup coverage of the incident, but the initial reports i saw made me think it WAS an uncontained engine failure that lead to the blowout - i guess given the context of that thread, this isnt the case?
