If you try and book LON - MAD using Avios the capital of Spain, and the registered headquarters of IAG, never appears at the top of the list. Madison in the USA does. I have got use to that.
But today the site is not listing MAD at all and gives you Atocha Railway Station as its preferred choice for Madrid. Madagascar has replaced Madison as the top airport choice!
I had a post a couple of weeks ago where this was happening to MAN as well.
It seems like several new code shares and possible destinations have been added which has jangled the order of some things that have been unchanged for many years.

TBH I think they have missed a trick for frequent flyers. If I type a three letter code, I expect that airport to be top of the list, not off the bottom of other things that might contain the same three letters.
However how it plays out for normal folks I don't know.
I very much doubt they have done any realistic user testing of the interface with the people who use it most.
