I HIGHLY recommend you do not check out. There is zero advantage to it. I do this all the time.

Typically when I do this, it is because I was the super late check out due to traveling with kids. We want to give them dinner, shower, brush teeth and then hit the road around 8 or 8:30. I also have done with with Hilton/Marriott for the 5th night free or IHG for 4th night free, why give up the free night?

If you are worried about charges on your account, what I typically do is stop by the front desk before heading out and say something like "I am leaving super early tomorrow morning, can I just review my folio now so I dont need to worry about it in the morning?" That also helps avoid any questions as to why i am packing up my car the night before leaving.

I then check out through the app the next morning from the comfort of my bed at home. The hotel knows I am gone and they can now clean the room.

Why risk not getting the night when there really is no advantage to you or the hotel telling them you are leaving (not like they will send a cleaning crew in at 8pm). You also never know what delays there could be. If there is a major storm or some other event that cancels a bunch of flights, you will never get a new hotel room, but if you don't check out you can go back to your room and avoid the long check in line since you already have a key.
