Delayed Bag & PNR/Ticket Issue

Hi all - despite a 2hr connection time my checked bag missed my LHR-JFK flight yesterday (BA113). I've been trying to report it via ba.com but just get a message telling me I can't as I haven't flown any of the sectors in the booking - although I obviously have!

Weirdly the BA app keeps showing sector 5 of 7 as the next flight - it's done this since day 1 after making the booking. As of today I've flown 3 sectors. Could this be due to there being conjoined tickets? I'm a lay person but if I understand correctly each ticket can only 'hold' 4 sectors.

My outbound routing was DUB-LHR-JFK-LAX with the JFK-LAX on AA. I'm unsure what do do. I've made a report with AA. Any help is much appreciated! The AA guy in LAX said over 200 bags didn't make the LHR-LAX flight(s) yesterday so seems there may be a wider issue.
