On the the flights I have tracked since the paid upgrade feature was added, the prices have only ever gone up. At booking SEA-MSP was $100, then $190, then $390, currently at $745. On SEA-BWI it started at $630 one way and $360 return. Currently $1100 out and still $360 return. The pricing for me does not appear to just reflect the fare difference unless that is the starting point. On SEA-SAN in Nov that I booked this week the offering was $110 out and $90 return, which I snapped up for the extra miles as I am a few hundred short of 100k.
