Just checked in here for a one-night award stay at like 90k points (but better than the $750ish cash they wanted for the 1br suite). Notes:
- Night mgr checked me in and when i asked how the transition was going, literally said "it's been very challenging." Apparently they lost some staff who were loyal to hilton (?) so for example they have no bellman tonight. to be clear, i wasn't complaining - he volunteered this info - and he also took care to reassure me they'd be fully staffed in the AM (once again, hadn't complained, he just volunteered this)
- Night mgr very friendly and clearly trying hard – thanked me for my status, proactively offered late checkout which I gratefully took, got me going quickly since it's midnight
- Property did not respond to my in-app chat a few hours ago – maybe part of Hilton --> Marriott transition challenges
- Location is very convenient for me on this trip and it really beats the Sheraton quality-wise
- Initial impression of suite very positive - smelled nice, AC came on quickly, true 1br suite. BUT - wear and tear everywhere. Part of the closet falling off, scuffs on all the wood, sprinkler poking out of the wall, etc. I hope the owners put some money into refreshing it - not even a huge amount, just touch ups. Having said that, all LC amenities present even down to the branded laundry bags. Very thorough. And a ton of nespresso pods - not just two and then two decaf (who wants the decaf???)
- Not Marriott's fault, ofc, but the suite is sort of weirdly designed in that the bedroom isn't huge but the closet is too big. Feels like they could have reconfigured this a little bit. Sitting room very good size with a table, chairs, sofa. Definitely can do work out of here
- This is a lovely place and a decent Chatwal replacement but totally devoid of character. I hope it gets reflagged as a JW or Ritz or something. If you woke up here and thought you were at the Conrad Indianapolis or the Park Hyatt DC or the Ritz Marina Del Rey you could be forgiven.
