I have never had an issue short checking a bag on AC. Usually it's just "sure", but sometimes they ask "why", and "I want to self-transfer from YYZ to YTZ" would be about as good a reason as you can ask for.

And in this case, I'm 95% sure they would only check it to YYZ anyway.
