Some of the hotels I'm still monitoring have now reduced a bit again over the previous increases. Example, IC Beppu for a night in Nov was 78k ponts initially then went to 98k points suddenly and now is at 87k points. All the same night and the paid rates didn't change at all.
The fluctuations are too much to be FX related so some tinkering seemed to have been happening by IHG. YMMV.
Same for me. I've seen reductions today and managed to save 3K points at a HIX booking in Bangkok
. Other properties have dropped slightly as well though they are still way above the points rates I locked in months ago. There is hope ...
