I'm not disagreeing with you, but you have to start somewhere. Show that there are consequences for this type of behavior vs. just letting it happen, and screwing over the customer. Or don't, and know that this will just continue to happen more and more.
There are ways to address this, if you want to bite instead of just bark - and if you want to get creative.
It's also a prime example of why you never contract 100% of your business to one vendor. You want at least two so that you can manage them against each other and drive better results, as well as having at least some redundancy when needed.
