Remember there is a lounge at each end of gate A, so you can try twice (though a 5 minute walk), if the first turns you down. Also I think a Gate B lounge.

Or take two children in with your wife, leave a few minutes later and bring the other child in, if old enough to be unsupervised for a while. Its a busy place, with no exit scan, so you can always say that your wife and children have left to shop.
You'll likely be the 50th person that day who's tried that. They've heard it all before and don't take kindly to people trying to full a fast one.

If you're going to chance anything, stay humble and try to appeal to the agents good nature.
