First trip to SA, very enjoyable, easy place to visit, if you are reasonably alert and seasoned traveler. Not as fool proof as London, but then London doesn't have giant game parks stuffed full of amazing animals. It's a long way to fly from the USA, but worth the trip (at least once!).
Last I read, the coalition government was formed rather quickly and things are peaceful. This gave me enough confidence to begin planning my next South African trip for late November.
