  • Nice pool, adequate gym (but kept at slightly too high temperature, making cardio uncomfortable)

  • Bar/Restaurant was nice but a bit impersonal
  • Service was impeccable
  • Probably a London thing, and well warranted, but I couldn’t run out of umbrellas if I tried (and it did rain a lot). I wish more hotels had this large a supply!
Since the missus and I were doing a redeye from the US, I booked our room one night early, and let the property know we wouldn’t be arriving till morning. I also asked to see if there was possibly room for an upgrade. They noted the arrival time, but had no comments to the upgrade question. That said, under “my trips” on the website, my room type changed from “deluxe room” to “executive room” with a view of the (Hyde) park.

Upon arrival, I again asked about the chances of a Titanium upgrade, but was told that it was not possible due to Wimbledon (and potentially also the AC/DC concert at Wembley 😁 ). Of course, I could tell that there were options, since I could book them on the website, but I wasn’t in town to argue.

Having said that, here’s my view of Hyde Park:

Our bedroom window. The cloudiness is not just due to the rain, as it was frosted, since the only thing you would have been able to see was the building next door.

I understand I was staying on points, but rooms started at GBP682, so…
Interesting review, but I wouldn’t describe it as relatively new. It has been a Marriott for over 20 years.
