I'll just note that if returning from DUB, one will go through U.S. Immigration and Customs at the pre-clearance facility there. If returning from elsewhere in Europe, Immigration and Customs will be done at one's U.S. airport of entry.

Also, I think that Ireland generally has pretty low departure taxes/fees; the same cannot be said for all European countries/airports.
