Unfortunately you don't have an entitlement under UK261 to a refund of the fare difference based on the lower fare that would have applied for the date you're now travelling. If you wanted to make a case for such a refund, it would have to be under consumer law and you'd really need evidence via screenshots from the time of booking proving the fare difference. Even then it would be far from a clear-cut case.

In general, BA's EuroFlyer operation is rather short of flight crew and so it appears some selective cancellations have been made, sufficiently far ahead to avoid compensation being payable (but also, perhaps more charitably, so that people can adjust their plans accordingly without huge inconvenience).
Thanks so much, Flarmip. Appreciate the response. I'll have a look at consumer law and might also see if my credit card will help. I have a screenshot taken today showing the price of the new route and of course I have my initial booking confirmation showing the price difference.

Hopefully our flights are now secure, at the very least. It's just that the price difference is £260, which is not a small amount of money!
