One option I'm surprised hasn't been suggested already is signing up for Delta's status match. I'm in the process of using that program to get Delta Gold status alongside AS MVPG. I'll have both through next year and now I can spend that time comparing the two head to head. Ultimately I think I'm likely to stick to AS mostly because I find their frequent flier miles much more valuable, but we'll see.
