Yesterday the IHG website and app were both down for me in Australia. Trying to search for hotels just resulted in an error.
I VPNed to Europe and could still not log in, but I was able to search for hotels and check prices (at the same time as my direct connection from Australia only led to errors)
10 hours later everything back to normal.
Resetting your password is just making trouble for yourself when IHG server was obviously having a bad day
