The cancellation of the 25% bonus for Basic (in future Level) Points for Gold and Diamond status holders is justified as follows: "in order to better align with the current market for frequent flier programs". I don't think this is right at all, especially for existing bookings. There are many frequent flier programs where status holders are granted a bonus to make requalification a little easier.
