In addition to hiring a Grab driver for a set amount of time which should not be too expensive, you can take a taxi (Vinasun aka Taxi Green or Mai Linh) from the hotel to downtown Hoi An and it's very reasonable. Hoi An is a walkable city anyway so once you get there, just wander around.

To solve the problem the driver not speaking English and you not speaking Vietnamese, use an app like Google Translate and speak to your phone in English and show the phone to the driver to read Vietnamese - I have been using Google Translate everywhere (Japan, Thailand, Italy, Germany, Korea, Brazil, Spain, etc.) and it works like a charm
