This is an issue with all 739s. The gate-supplied air doesn't seem to help much, and the APU-generated AC helps only a little. I bought a neck fan last summer to deal with all of the short-hop 739 flights I end up on.
It’s funny, I’ve never really paid much attention to this until now, but thinking about my flights recently, across different airlines, the ones on 739s have indeed been the hottest when boarding.
