Your description, to me, sounds like expressing legitimate concerns and that the fees are inappropriate. Whether it makes sense to complain and do something about it, however, depends on the cost and the amount of time/trouble you want to endure. Here is a somewhat related case:

Related in the sense that it is someone from BR (maybe under revenue management practices) calling demanding money. Not a good look from a 5-star airline IMO.
