What you need/want from your program varies by person so it just depends. I'm a 75K this year but will be lucky to make Gold next (based on my flying/earnings this year). At 6'4" by far my biggest perk is being able to book into the exit row... If I had an opportunity to chase status with another airline after hitting MVP I'd probably do it but I don't have a lot of options for my west coast to Hawaii route.

I am 6'2", over 60 years old, the ability to book a premium seat for the price of Y is the primary reason I stick with MP, earn at least MPVG annually. This assumes MP remains a mileage-based system, rather than revenue-based (or CC spend) for elite qualification. If/when AS follows the march to the bottom, drops the mileage-based system, I will simply fall back on my AA LT PLT status, earn (and burn) AA miles when flying AS, other OW carriers.
