What you need/want from your program varies by person so it just depends. I'm a 75K this year but will be lucky to make Gold next (based on my flying/earnings this year). At 6'4" by far my biggest perk is being able to book into the exit row. Followed by really liking the elite counter for checking bags, etc. I retain both of those at MVP and will likely get upgraded to at least PC often. If I had an opportunity to chase status with another airline after hitting MVP I'd probably do it but I don't have a lot of options for my west coast to Hawaii route.
