I get a very cryptic error when trying to select a meal on my reservation on Egypt Air from Mumbai to JFK via Cairo. This happens on all browsers and is independent of the type of meal I choose.

" Your reservation is confirmed, but your special request could not be processed for these flights. Please contact us for further information. (4609 - 12197)"

A google search of this error ends up with a tweet to Malaysian Airlines which makes me believe this perhaps comes from Sabre or Amadeus? I don't know.

I tried calling but have been on hold for a while. Any ideas how I can overcome?
