Got an op-up from Beijing back to Haneda today, and it happened to be a 77W with The Room, so I was finally able to try it out.
The firmness is not an issue for me. Had a nice nap reclining after dinner. I like the multiple positions you can set, but I can see why some people would think it's cramped in fully flat mode. I'm 173cm and that already felt a bit tight. If I turn and use the space closer to the aisle then it's a little roomier.
Didn't need the in-seat entertainment, the high-definition camera and the map were more than enough for me. Facing backwards was also really strange for take-off, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I do like how when fully-flat and facing backwards, my head is above my feet. Slightly more natural sleeping position than facing forward and having my head below my feet.
Congrats! Yes flying backwards is great. Now add another 20cm and think about the contortions necessary
