Answering my own question.
In Miami, according to the agent, QR opens the desk 4 hours before the flight.
(I arrived about ~3.5 hours before the flight and they clearly had been open for a bit.)
I arrived at DFW just over 3.5 hours early last week and they had clearly been going for a while.
