I did also once buy a ticket 360 days from a flight which dropped by about a third for the next 8 months, at the other end of the scale.
The pre-pandemic logic was the best time to buy, as an extremely general rule, was 6 weeks to departure, with a long list of exceptions. It probably has been blown up by the reduction in business travel and the increase in leisure / family & friend travel, but I think it's still a good booking time. The reason being that airlines are then starting to panic about unfilled inventory, plus the chances of not flying due to (say) illness is greatly reduced. If I had to give a suggestion, I think I would still suggest 6 to 8 weeks.
