Now I am the one sitting separate across from the aisle rather than next to my toddler, my toddler has been moved to the window seat, and our extra traveller is now sitting between my toddler and my husband. Appreciate they kept our party together, but I find it very strange they didn't keep like-for-like seating per individual from the original booking? Is this normal?
Phoned to swap things around within our party of 4 but was told we can use our discretion on the flight. Hung up, then felt unease at the thought of not being allowed to swap seats. Phoned again to change, felt it went positive and they apparently changed it and were going to resend itinerary. Hours later booking is still unchanged, no new itinerary. Don't really want to do this at the airport as I am concerned I will offend our extra traveller being so set on myself sitting next to my toddler instead (they adore my toddler, would absolutely jump at the chance at sitting next to him, I prefer to avoid this disappointment!).
Any advice?
P.s - Unfortunately 'manage booking' options won't let me swap seats within my party, only select completely different seating where there is nothing else available all together.

Frankly, just deal with it and sort it on the plane.

If the extra traveller can’t deal with you changing the seating so to suit the 3 of you, query why they’re travelling with you.
