Some extra benefits like an insurance could be great.

I still have kept Amex for a while but I think it's time to ditch the card at some point. I have used Melia Gold card a few times because you can get -20 % three times a year with that card. I have almost earned the Amex annual fee back with that benefit. It's okay but not necessary.
