And it probably got a lot worse during the Wuhan lockdowns, issues in Urumqi, etc. I remember them being extremely interested in battery packs on my last trip there years ago. Every checkpoint person was fondling and inspecting every battery pack that was going through, they were especially interested in my traveling companion's one. And yeah, our flight to Lhasa was next level of insanity in security theater.
